System
Client : Tramtrack Croydon Limited
Mowlem Rail has successfully won the 3 year
renewable Infrastructure Maintenance Contract to carry out
the Maintenance on the Croydon Tramlink system running from
the centre of Croydon and radiating out to Wimbledon, Beckenham
Junction and New Addington. The system consists of 28km of
track with 38 Tram Stops and depot.
Key aspects of the contract are:
- Routine Inspections – track, overhead line, tramstop
equipment etc.
- Planned Maintenance – periodic maintenance to points,
section insulators, tramstop equipment, communications equipment
etc.
- Reactive Maintenance – work arising from routine
inspections, breakdowns and faults on the system.
Croydon Tramway System was opened to the
public in autumn 1999 and operates all year round with the
only exception being Christmas day.
The network interchanges with mainline
railway services at Wimbledon, Mitcham Junction, West Croydon,
East Croydon, Elmers End and Beckenham Junction.
The Trams are fed via the 750v DC system
of overhead line equipment throughout the entire network.
Mowlem Railways will be operating
in a close partnership with the client TCL the to maximise
the key objective of maintaining the system on a planned routine
maintenance schedule. And with Mowlem Railways expertise we
will also identify any additional defects throughout the system
and initiate a fast response reactive maintenance regime in
addition to emergency call outs for a variety of problems.
