Jobs at Mowlem Railways

Established in 1998 as a specific focus for European Rail activities, Mowlem Railways draws on more than 175 years of Railway experience of Mowlem plc. Building on this, we are able to provide the knowledge, ability and excellence of workmanship required to manage the most exacting and demanding Rail Infrastructure projects, in addition to assisting and advising other group companies on their rail related projects.

Our main clients include:
  • Network Rail (ex. Railtrack)
  • Union Railways
  • Northern Ireland Railways
  • Iarnrod Eireann
  • LUL PPP Consortia
  • Transport for London

Our service offering encompasses high quality delivery capability in Trackwork, Catenary Works, Signaling, Maintenance, Plant and Operative Supply on an international basis, presently being active in the UK, Eire, Mainland Europe and Northern Africa.

Mowlem Railways also possess five subsidiary divisions: Edgar Allen, the track component manufacturer; Hocking Rail, the specialist industrial and leisure rail contractor; UK Fastrack, the direct rail labour organisation of the Mowlem group; Mowlem UKFL Training, providing RTAS approved rail skills and safety tuition to Mowlem Railways operatives and external organisations and, last but certainly not least, Mowlem Railways Nederland bv, our Dutch office developing a Mowlem market in trams and rail in Holland in addition to providing advice on PFI opportunities in that country.

In our so far brief history, Mowlem Railways has been focused upon involvement in many of the recent important developments of the UK Rail market. Our involvement in the delivery of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, one of the greatest civil engineering programmes of modern times, has been exemplary and we are now contracted to complete the final works for the grand 2006 opening. Network Rail has also benefited from our service delivery through our works on the Cross Country Route Modernisation, the DBOM of Southern England’s long welded depot at Eastleigh and most recently our pilot works (and subsequent award of Kent area works in consortium with ABB) on the £1bn Southern Region Power Supply Upgrade programme.
